Developing truck safety technology promises fewer truck accidents

In a recent post, we wrote about the truck accident in New Jersey which left comedian Tracy Morgan with serious injuries and another comedian dead. The accident, while not all that unusual in itself when as far as truck accidents go, has been sort of a wake-up call to reexamine the issue of truck safety. Driver fatigue is, of course, a big issue in this area, but safety technology is another issue that has been gaining increased attention.

Motorcycle accidents a reminder of dangers bikers face

Recent motorcycle accidents in Martin County and Whitley County of Eastern Kentucky are a reminder of the risks motorcyclists face on the road. One accident involved a West Virginia motorcyclist who crashed his motorcycle on his own. The other involved a 62-year-old man who was struck on his motorcycle by a pickup which crossed over the center line in the roadway. In the latter accident, the motorcyclists had been wearing a helmet, but reportedly died upon impact.

Tracy Morgan injured in accident involving fatigued trucker

Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan, as readers may already have heard, was recently injured in an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike. The accident, which occurred when a trucker ran into the comedian’s limo, left two others seriously injured and another dead. Morgan, for his part, had surgery for a broken leg, and was still in critical condition as of Tuesday.
