Three injured in multi-vehicle crash

Accidents can happen at any given moment on the roadways. Even when a motorist is attempting to evade an accident up ahead, this could result in an additional accident occurring. Chain reaction collisions can involve multiple vehicles and could be caused by the negligence of one or more drivers. Thus, it is important that victims understand this possibility and what steps they can take to prove cause and liability.

According to recent reports, a three-vehicle accident occurred in Bluefield. The multi-vehicle crash happened on U.S. Route 460 near Mercer Mall. Preliminary reports indicated that a Durango collided with another vehicle while traveling in the eastbound lanes of the highway. This collision caused the Durango to lose control and travel through the median, striking a third vehicle.

Reports indicated that when the Durango lost control after the first collision, the vehicle collided head on with another vehicle in the westbound lanes of the highway. When emergency crews arrived at the scene of the accident, three people were reportedly injured. West Virginia authorities indicated that one person from each vehicle were injured and transported to the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation. It is not clear what caused the initial accident, and following investigation, authorities should be able to determine what caused the crash and which drivers are responsible for the accident.

Those harmed in a motor vehicle accident should take the time to understand their rights and legal recourses. Filing a personal injury claim could help a victim not only place accountability on a negligent party but helps with the recovery of compensation. A car accident can leave a victim with accumulating medical bills, lost wages and other damages. A monetary award could help offset these losses.
