Illinois truck driver faced charged following fatal WV crash

Accidents can happen anywhere. Whether it's on your way to work, to the store, to pick up your kids from school or on vacation, negligent drivers are everywhere. Because of this, drivers should always be aware of the dangers on the roadways. Nonetheless, driving defensively does not always help to evade an accident, especially when a negligent truck driver is behind the wheel of a massive vehicle.

According to recent reports, an Illinois truck driver has been charged in a fatal truck accident that took place in West Virginia last year. Based on current information, the 41-year-old truck driver faces four counts of negligent homicide and reckless driving after being involved in a fatal accident that killed a family of four from North Carolina.

Police stated that in April the tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on Interstate 77 when it crashed into the automobile transporting the family of four. This resulted in the truck crossing the center median, rolling onto its side and catching on fire. The family of four did not survive the crash and the truck driver suffered several broken bones.

Suffering the loss of a loved one is a tragic event, especially when it is more than one family member that died in a fatal crash. It is important to note that it is possible to hold a negligent driver accountable, especially if a criminal action has already taken place against them. Information from the criminal case could be used in a civil action. A wrongful death suit not only helps place liability on the negligent driver but also helps with the recovery of compensation for losses and damages.
